Complex Cases

Some eyes are straightforward. Some are not. Legacy Eye Centers was built to care for both, so a difficult eye is welcomed here, not passed along.

Why Legacy

Full-scope care, start to finish.

Too often, patients with a complicated eye are told their case is “not a good fit” and sent somewhere else to start over. Legacy was founded on a different idea: a practice and surgery center built to take care of people, not to choose the easiest cases.

Full-scope surgery

Cataract, cornea and glaucoma surgery under one roof, including combined procedures and repairs after previous surgery.

Partnered with your eye doctor

We work hand in hand with your own eye doctor, who continues your routine care before and after surgery.

Built to help

Our surgery center is designed around what patients need, so a complex case gets the time, equipment and attention it deserves.

Cases we’re built for

Complex care is where cornea, glaucoma and cataract training come together. A few examples:

Cataract with other conditions

Cataract surgery combined with glaucoma surgery or a DMEK transplant, often in a single visit.

Shifted or dislocated lens implants

Repositioning and securing a lens implant whose support has weakened, even years after surgery.

Problems after previous surgery

Lingering inflammation, retained lens fragments, pressure spikes or vision that never cleared.

Failed or high-risk corneas

Repeat transplants and, when a transplant can’t succeed, an artificial cornea (keratoprosthesis).

Advanced glaucoma

Drainage tubes and surgery for glaucoma that drops and laser can’t control, including after earlier procedures.

Second opinions

A careful, unhurried look when you’ve been told there are no good options.

What to expect

Complex cases start with a thorough exam and detailed imaging. You’ll hear the options in plain language, including the benefits, risks and realistic expectations of each, before deciding on a plan together.

  • Bring your current glasses and a list of your medications and eye drops
  • Bring records from previous eye surgeries, if you have them
  • Write down your questions and what you most want to see better
